Development Progress
A Tender Specification and Bill of Quantities have been prepared. The
specification has now been issued to contractors.
Discussions have taken placed with a number of them some of them
however, having initially said they were interested have now
returned the documents saying that they are too committed on other
work. Further contractors have been contacted and bids are expected
to be available for evaluation by the end of September.
The extent of work will only be finalised when the bids are returned.
It is anticipated that the start of construction will be during October
and it has been estimated that it will take 26 -30 weeks to complete.
A newt fence and traps have been installed around the proposed
construction site to prevent any great crested newts from venturing into
the site. Internal fences and traps have also been constructed within the
construction site area. These fences are required to be in situ for a period of 30 days to trap any
potential newts that may be within the site before any construction work
can start. During the construction of the internal fences a Great Crested newt was
found. A
bat habitat has also to be erected in what will be the Activity Barn.
To control access to the site during construction two temporary gates have been
erected one near the entrance to the farm buildings and one leading in to
the top field .

Ditch clearing in the
bottom field has been completed but will require on going effort to ensure
the field is maintained in a dry condition.
Other work carried out recently
has been removal of debris and general site clearance in and around the
pig sty, the proposed site of the new canteen. A small barn local to the
farmhouse has also been demolished.

Site clearance of pig sty area.
Both water and electrical utilities will
require upgrading and investigations are underway to determine the most
economical way to achieve the required upgrades
An outstanding commitment
necessary to ensure full compliance with the planning permission is
the requirement for fencing and landscaping. Approximately 8000 trees
require planting and a scheme has been submitted to a
landscaping company and we are awaiting their estimate and comments.
Fencing specification for the motorway
boundary is also under review.
