Water activities instructors Bibbys Farm Scout Camp and Activity Centre
Now that Bibbys Farm has received both access rights to the reservoir and planning permission to locate two containers for storage and change rooms adjacent to the reservoir we are in the process of developing the reservoir into a water activities facility for the site. The Greater Manchester North Scout County have also suggested that they would like to use the facility for some of the County’s water activities and are willing to assist in training instructors to reach the necessary standards to take young people on the water either in kayaks or open canoes or for rafting activities. All of which require some authorisation as the water has been classified as B1.
We are therefore looking for people who are interested in taking young people onto the water at Bibbys Farm. It does not matter if you have no qualifications County instructors are willing to train people up to the necessary standards.
The qualifications we are looking for is B.C.U. 2 star plus a safety course, first response safety course and a minimum age of 18. However 17 year olds could start training on the understanding authorisation could not be fully given until they reach the age of 18.
The 2nd Kayaking course is to start Saturday 12th April 2008 at 2.00pm. Number of people that can be taken on a course is limited to 12 and the duration of course will be dependent on the progress of each individual to reach the required standard.
